Sacramento City College students show at CSUS
"City at State," a multi-media
art exhibit at California State University, Sacramento's Witt
Gallery, Jan. 29 - Feb. 8, features the work of Sacramento
City College students and introduces them to the CSUS campus.
"This is the first time we have done something like this,"
says Chris Daubert, Sacramento City College art professor
and guest curator for the exhibit. "Since so many of
our students transfer to CSUS we wanted them to see what's
going on at CSUS as well as make connections between the campuses."
Daubert says the exhibit reflects the students' talents and
techniques.
"All the art instructors announced the exhibit and suggested
students enter a piece," says Daubert. "The selected
pieces represent all the different approaches that the students
at Sacramento City College are taking right now. We are all
really excited about the exhibit."
"City at State," features about 20 sculptures, paintings
and drawings. A reception for the exhibit is at 5:30 p.m.,
Friday, Feb. 8 and Daubert will give a gallery talk about
Sacramento's artistic spirit at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
"There is a certain commonality shared by Sacramento
City College and CSUS," says Daubert. "My talk it's
going to be about the energy and art of Sacramento."
The Witt Gallery is open noon - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
