CSUS offers free help to local businesses
The
California State University, Sacramento Center for Small Business is once again
accepting requests for free management assistance for small businesses in the
Sacramento region.
In its 35th year of operation, the center is one of the oldest and largest in
the United States. From its modest beginnings, when the center worked with seven
companies, its students now assist more than 100 companies each year.
Working under faculty supervision, students give advice and guidance across a
full-range of management issues, with the exception of taxation, law and loan
packaging.
“The demand for our services continues to increase,” said Dennis
H. Tootelian, center director. “In fall 2003 we worked with more than 70
companies, a record for us in a single semester.”
The center’s services are made possible through the support of local banks,
the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District, and REsource Capital.
“We have been very fortunate to have great support from community organizations,
Tootelian said. “Even in difficult economic times our partners have continued
to assist us. This is a tribute to their foresight and commitment to the community.”
For applications, call (916) 278-7278. For more information, contact Tootelian
at (916) 278-6203. For media assistance, call CSUS public affairs at (916) 278-6156.
