Sacramento State, Los Rios to sign cooperation agreement

Officials from California State University, Sacramento and the Los Rios Community College District will sign a formal agreement to jointly develop new initiatives during a meeting at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2.

The event will be in the boardroom of Sacramento Hall on the Sacramento State campus. Comments will be made by Los Rios Chancellor Brice Harris and Sacramento State President Alexander Gonzalez, followed by a general discussion.

Members of the media are invited to attend, and there will be an opportunity for individual interviews with participants.

The Memorandum of Understanding being signed formalizes the ongoing close relationship between Sacramento State and the Los Rios Community College District, which includes American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College and Sacramento City College. Under the new agreement, representatives from the various institutions will agree to meet regularly to discuss various efforts to improve student success and develop new academic initiatives.

Among the efforts currently under consideration, and mentioned in the MOU, are shared use of facilities, a culinary art/management program, a higher education leadership development program, and an annual joint review of how best to meet the region’s workforce needs.

Media assistance is available by contacting Sacramento State Public Affairs at (916) 278-6156 or the Los Rios District Public Information Office (916) 568-3041.
