Sacramento State, Los Rios to sign cooperation agreement
Officials from California State University, Sacramento and
the Los Rios Community College District will sign a formal agreement to jointly
develop new initiatives during a meeting at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2.
The event will be in the boardroom of Sacramento Hall on the Sacramento State
campus. Comments will be made by Los Rios Chancellor Brice Harris and Sacramento
State President Alexander Gonzalez, followed by a general discussion.
Members of the media are invited to attend, and there will be an opportunity
for individual interviews with participants.
The Memorandum of Understanding being signed formalizes the ongoing close relationship
between Sacramento State and the Los Rios Community College District, which
includes American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College
and Sacramento City College. Under the new agreement, representatives from the
various institutions will agree to meet regularly to discuss various efforts
to improve student success and develop new academic initiatives.
Among the efforts currently under consideration, and mentioned in the MOU, are
shared use of facilities, a culinary art/management program, a higher education
leadership development program, and an annual joint review of how best to meet
the region’s workforce needs.
