Event offers tips for
bringing arts to schools
Teachers looking
for creative strategies for incorporating art into their classrooms will find
a wealth of ideas at the fourth CSUS Arts Resource Fair, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday,
Feb. 14 in the University Union at California State University, Sacramento. The
free event will feature more than a dozen workshops with hands-on suggestions
for integrating the arts across the curriculum.
Sacramento’s poet laureate and CSUS emeritus art professor Jose Montoya
will give the keynote address on “Creativity and the Child.” Fifteen
workshops by local artists and educators will be offered at three different timeslots
to allow participants to learn how to include dance, theatre, musical and visual
arts in their teaching. During the lunch hour there will be performances by local
groups and displays of art by area K-12 students.
Funding for the resource fair was provided by the Teichert Foundation.
Parking is free the day of the event. One unit of CSUS credit is available for
a fee.
