Demonstration to Reveal
the Art of Primrose
Dr. David Dalton, long time associate and former student of violist William Primrose, will present a lecture and demonstration highlighting the life and career of his former teacher at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 19 at California State University, Sacramento.
Primrose, who lived through most of the 20th Century, was the world's foremost solo violist. The presentation will include excerpts from TV documentaries featuring Primrose talking about the viola and its history, introductory lessons, and performances.
Dalton is a Professor Emeritus of Brigham Young University with degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Indiana University, where he studied with Primrose. President of the American Viola Society for 15 years, Dalton has had editions and transcriptions for viola published by C.F. Peters, G. Schirmer, and the Oxford University Press.
