New football alumni group to honor
Hornet coaches – past and present

To celebrate more
than 50 years of Hornet football, the California State University, Sacramento
Alumni Association has established a new chapter: Hornet Football Alumni and
Friends.
Football alumni, coaches, staff and friends of Hornet football are invited to
the chapter’s kick-off – a recognition and appreciation night honoring
all head coaches who have served the football program at the University. The
event will be at 6 p.m., Saturday, March 20 in the Alumni Center on campus.
Coaches to be recognized include Dave Strong (who coached 1954-56) and John
Baker (1957-60), both in memoriam, as well as Ray Clemons (1961-75), Glen Brady
(1976-77), Bob Mattos (1978-92), Mike Clemons (1993-94), John Volek (1995-2002)
and Steve Mooshagian (2003-present).
Admission to the event is $20 per person and $30 per couple.
The football alumni group is designed to rekindle relationships among all who
played a part in the football program, from players to cheer team to field crew,
as well as spouses and parents. Future activities are expected to include pre-game
parties, Monday Night Football viewing and other gatherings.
