World-renowned
composer and musician Vladimir Tarasov will perform at Sacramento State for
the 14th annual Festival of the Arts, which runs, March 2 to 12.
The Lithuanian artist will
perform “Aleatoric Music for Percussion and Roulette” at 4 p.m.
on March 7 in Capistrano Hall 151 and will lecture at 5:30 p.m. on March 9 in
Mariposa Hall 1000. There will be a reception in the University Library Gallery
following the lecture. Both the performance and lecture are free and open to
the public.
Tarasov has performed internationally,
often in collaboration with visual artists and his work has been presented at
significant venues in Europe, Russia and the United States, including Kunsthalle
in Dusseldorf, the Biennale in Venice, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris,
the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, and the Museum of Contemporary Art
in Chicago.
He has written music for orchestras, the theatre and film. He was also a member
of the former jazz group the Ganelin Trio.
