Springtime
is playtime for CSUS piano festival
The
spring piano festival at California State University, Sacramento
starts Saturday, March 1 and continues through Tuesday, March 11.
This year’s festival, “Women at the Piano,” includes:

Master classes by CSUS faculty members Lorna Peters, Kirsten Smith,
and Richard Cionco throughout the day starting at 10 a.m., Saturday,
March 1 in Capistrano 151. All classes are free and open to the
public.

Pianist Tien Hsieh, a Folsom resident and graduate of the Manhattan
School of Music, presents a lecture and recital titled “Women
at the Piano” at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 1 in the Music
Recital Hall.

Audrey Andrist, a graduate of The Julliard School, performs a
solo recital at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 2 in the Music Recital
Hall. Andrist also presents a free master class at 2 p.m., Monday,
March 3.

CSUS piano majors perform a program of works by women composers
at 8 p.m., Monday, March 3 in the Music Recital Hall.

Irene Peery-Fox, a visiting scholar from Brigham Young University,
presents a free master class at 2 p.m., Monday, March 5.

Natsuki Fukasawa performs a solo recital at 7:30 p.m., Sunday,
May 11. Fukasawa’s experience includes chamber performances
with the Sacramento Chamber Society and the Capitol Chamber Players,
as well as work with her own piano trio, the Jalina Trio, which
toured last year in Europe, Japan and California.
Tickets
are $10 general admission and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets
are available at the CSUS Ticket Office and at www.tickets.com.
