Peace vs. war topic of lecture

Political scientist and peace researcher Ramesh Thakur will speak on the topic “Wish for Peace vs. The Will to Wage War” on Tuesday, March 4, at noon in the University Union Ballroom at California State University, Sacramento. The free event is open to the public.

Thakur is vice rector of the United Nations University in Tokyo, a member of its senior academic staff and involved in its Peace and Governance Programme. A native of India, Thakur has spent most of his career in Australia and New Zealand where he has served on national committees including Australia’s National Consultative Committee on Peace and Disarmament and New Zealand’s Public Advisory Committee on Disarmament and Arms Control. Thakur is the author of numerous peace-related publications and holds a doctorate in political studies.
