Eight
all-star alumni of Sacramento State—including CBS “Early Show”
host Rene Syler and tennis coach Bill Campbell—will be honored at the
annual Distinguished Service Awards at 6:30 p.m., Thursday April 6 at the Alumni
Center on campus. The event is a highlight of April’s Alumni Month festivities,
which celebrate the University’s alumni.
The awards single out former Sacramento State students who have “brought
distinction to themselves and the University through their accomplishments.”
This year’s honorees are:
Lifetime Achievement Award: William Campbell III (’67 and ’70) Co-owner
Spare Time, Inc., and Coach, Sacramento State Hornets Women’s Tennis Team.
Distinguished Service Awards:
Jack Bertolucci,
(‘50). Retired Vice President and Regional Manager for Norris, Beggs
and Simpson.
Patrick P. Fenwick,
(‘61 and ‘71) District Administrator for Arden Park Recreation
and Park District.
Jack Higdon,
(‘52) Chairman of the Board of California Moving Systems.
Theresa “Terri”
A. Parker, (‘76) Executive Director of the California Housing Finance
Agency.
Randall E.
Reynoso, (’80) President and COO of Placer Sierra/Sacramento Commercial
Bank.
Rene Syler
(‘87), Co-anchor of CBS News’ “The Early Show.”
Distinguished Faculty
Award: Marilyn Hopkins, (’70) Dean of the College of Health and Human
Services.
Tickets for the Distinguished Service Awards are $100 per person, $800 for tables
of eight and $1,000 for tables of 10. Reservations can be made by calling (916)
