CSUS offers summer of fun and learning

Kids can have fun learning this summer during one of the many educational and recreation programs available at California State University, Sacramento.

Summer fun starts on the water at the CSUS Aquatic Center at Lake Natoma where 11 one-week sessions in sailing, kayaking, water skiing, jet skiing and other water activities will be available. Other sessions will include Adventure Camp for youth 13-years and older; Paddle Camp for children 12-years and older; and Guppie camp for 7-year-olds.

The popular Academic Talent Search continues with its offerings of accelerated and enrichment courses for children in grades six through nine. ATS will have such diverse offerings as Forensic Science, Japanese, Web Design and the Internet, Veterinary Medicine and Sculpture among others. Now entering its 22nd year, ATS will offer one-, three- and five-week sessions. Call ahead or check their website for required testing and application processing information.

Science Adventures Summer Camp returns with 10 week-long camps for sixth- through ninth-graders. Children can choose from "Newton's Motion Madness," "The Great Dinosaur Mystery," "Space and Rocketry" or "Robo-Tech Extreme."

Several sports camps will also be offered where children and teens can improve their skills in volleyball, soccer, basketball and baseball.
