Sacramento State to celebrate international dialects

Foreign language students from all over the Sacramento Region will celebrate the world’s languages and cultures during the fourth annual World Language Day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 29 at Sacramento State.

The event offers a culturally-rich day of workshops, presentations, food, dancing, sports, foreign films, job information and more. Participants can try their hand at such activities as Japanese swordsmanship, French folk dancing, Taiko drumming or watch high school and college students perform skits and read poetry in an assortment of languages.

World Language Day is hosted by Sacramento State’s Foreign Languages Department to promote foreign language proficiency, support language teachers and give language students the opportunity to demonstrate their skills.

Parking, workshops and activities are free and open to the public and will take place at in Mariposa Hall, Eureka Hall and outside on the Library Quad.

The event’s organizers are still seeking entertainers, presenters or vendors to participate in the event. Members of the community, cultural groups, clubs and high school or college students are encouraged to participate. The last day to register online as a presenter or entertainer is April 2.
