April may be famous for its showers, but at Sacramento State it’s better known as Alumni Month, a time to recognize the work and accomplishments of current and future alumni through a series of exciting events.
Alumni Month kicks off with “Deserving Desserts,” the annual mixer of the Alumni Association, 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 2 in the Alumni Center. The event, which is free to Association members plus one guest, recognizes members for their dedication to the University and the Association. A wide array of desserts, refreshments and wine will be served. RSVP by March 28 online at www.SacStateAlumni.com or call (916) 278-6295.
The fourth annual Sac State Night at the River Cats will be held at 7:05 p.m., Tuesday, April 15 at Raley Field. Sac State students and alumni will sing the national anthem, throw the first pitch and lead the seventh-inning stretch. There will be gifts and prizes for those wearing Sac State’s colors, green and gold. Ticket information is available online at www.SacStateAlumni.com.
In appreciation of the professional achievements and community service of its alumni, the University and the Alumni Association will recognize the 2008 honorees of the Distinguished Service Awards at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 17 at the Alumni Center. For ticket information, visit http://www.sacstatealumni.com/ or call (916) 278-6295.
Sac State alumni who work in and around the Capitol will be celebrated at the Alumni Capitol Picnic, 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m., Friday, April 25 at the Capitol Building East Lawn. The event is free, and attendees must RSVP by April 21 at www.SacStateAlumni.com.
The second annual Stinger Wine & Food Classic, 6 p.m., Friday, April 25 at the Alumni Center features alumni-connected wineries, vineyards and food purveyors. Tickets are $40 per person, and proceeds support athletic scholarships. Contact Toni Brown at email@example.com or (916) 278-4263 for tickets.
