Cesar Chavez community service event
The Associated
Students, Inc. at California State University, Sacramento will celebrate its
“Cesar Chavez Community Service Day” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday,
March 31.
The event will start with a breakfast ceremony and speaker at Serna Plaza. The
community is invited to join CSUS students, staff and faculty to hear Duane
Campbell, a professor in the department of multilingual and multicultural education,
talk about the life of Cesar Chavez and about his personal experiences as a
member of the United Farm Workers Union.
Following the breakfast ceremony, attendees are invited to travel to local non-profit
centers to participate in volunteer service projects. Sites such as La Raza
Galleria Posada and Fairytale Town will host the volunteers from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m. Once the service projects are complete, volunteers will return to Serna
Plaza for food and music until 4 p.m.
