Speaker
talks on
science, tech policies in Brazil
Distinguished
scholar Heitor Gurgulino de Souza will speak at a special colloquium
at California State University, Sacramento’s University Union
Hinde Auditorium at 3 p.m., Monday, April 7.
The talk will be on “Science and Technology Policies in Latin
America: The Case of Brazil.” It will be followed by a reception
in the University Center Restaurant.
Gurgulino de Souza holds the chair of professor of science at the
State University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. He earned a doctorate in
physics from Mackenzie University in Brazil and is the author of
many articles on physics, the application of science and technology
to development, higher education, and university administration.
From 1987 to 1997, Gurgulino de Souza was the rector of the United
Nations University. He then spent three years with UNESCO.
