Author talks about the art of scene designs
Leading British scenographer Pamela
Howard will discuss her book What is Scenography? at
1 p.m., Monday, April 15 in the Playwrights' Theatre in Shasta
Hall at California State University, Sacramento.
Howard, a professor at Central St. Martin's College of Art
and Design in London, will also discuss her designs and scenographic
concepts.
Her many theatre credits include productions with English
Touring Theatre and Old Vic Royal Shakespeare Company, Nottingham
Playhouse and the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
Howard founded the European Scenography Centers as part of
her masters degree courses at Central Saint Martin's College
of Arts and Design in London, with centers in Utrecht, Prague,
Seville, Helsinki and Zurich.
Howard is currently the artistic director of Scenofest, an
annual international festival of scenography. In additional
to writing many books and articles on scenography, she has
served on many commissions throughout England, including the
Britain at Prague Quadrennial 1995 and the British Education
Commission.
