Campus events promote and celebrate cultural unity
California State
University, Sacramento is hosting the Unity Celebration April 14 and 15 in the
University Union. The event is designed to build awareness and understanding
between the diverse populations that make up the campus community. All workshops,
shows, and concerts are free.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thurs. April 15 in the Union’s Ballroom, organizers
will offer workshops to discuss unity-building among students. The seminars
are designed to begin dialogue about relations between the races, religions,
cultures and genders on campus.
At 7:30 p.m. in Serna Plaza that evening, there is a night of laughs planned.
Rex Navarrete, John Alston, and Jose Simón will share their witty cultural-based
observations on life during the “Stars Under the Stars” comedy event.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fri., April 16 in Serna Plaza, performances will include
musical groups playing music including reggae, rock, jazz, and hip-hop. An Aztec
ensemble is scheduled to dance. Student organizations will also set up information
booths.
