Broadway and film actress Carol Channing will join Sacramento State students for a special performance at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 27 in the University Theatre. And the stage legend is also planning to share a bit of her talent and wisdom at a master class for performing arts students from 3 – 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 26.
Channing won awards and set records in 1962 for her portrayal of the flamboyant, matchmaker Dolly Levi in the Broadway show, Hello, Dolly.
Channing is traveling and performing at public universities throughout California as part of an effort to support the arts in public education. Ticket revenue will be used to establish a scholarship fund for the University’s performance students. Channing will also make a gift of $10,000 to the University to help establish the fund.
VIP tickets are $100 and include a post-performance cast party. General admission is $25, and student admission is $15. General and student admission tickets can be purchased at the Sacramento State Ticket Office at (916) 278-4323 or at tickets.com.
