CSUS hosts beastly symposium
Get in touch with
your inner beast at this year’s Nammour Symposium, sponsored by the philosophy
department at California State University, Sacramento, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
on Tuesday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 28 in the University Union Forrest
Suite.
The theme of this year’s event, “The Beast Within,” examines
human nature’s beastly origins, how it manifests itself in daily life,
the role it plays in human affairs and the struggle to transcend it. The symposium
includes four panel discussions lead by CSUS faculty and students.
Panel discussions include topics such as the character of human beastliness,
issues involving the war on terror and the conflict in Iraq, efforts to harness
the inner beast through philosophies like martial arts and the role of the inner
beast in human creativity and art.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the
philosophy department at (916) 278-6424. For media assistance, contact CSUS
