Faculty awarded for academic and service excellence

California State University, Sacramento is honoring its teachers for their work and dedication to the campus and the Northern California community.

A reception to recognize the outstanding instructors is at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 6 in the Redwood Room of the University Union. CSUS will give the following people Outstanding Teaching awards:

  • Edith LeFebvre, communication studies
  • Craig Kelley, business administration
  • Rosemary Papalewis, educational leadership and policy studies
  • John Oldenberg, electrical and electronic engineering
  • Rita Cameron Wedding, women’s studies and ethnic studies

Others at the same reception will receive recognition for their leadership at the University. They are the following:

  • Linda Palmer, English
  • William Harris, special education
  • Cui Zhang, computer science
  • Sylvia Navari, social work
  • Susan Slaymaker, geology
  • Ben Amata, reference librarian
  • Stephen Perez, economics

The University is also acknowledging the work of faculty members within the community. The following will receive Outstanding Community Service awards at the 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 4 event in the University Union Redwood Room:

  • Donald Kendrick, music
  • Dennis Tootelian, business administration
  • Noreen Kellough, teacher education
  • Scott Modell, kinesiology and health science
  • Ronald Coleman, biological sciences
  • David Covin, government

Terrance Thomas of the college of education is receiving the Lifetime
Achievement award for work within the community.
