Time to see a colorful display of spring flowers
The public can get a chance to view a vivid display of plants and flowers during a series of free open houses during April and May at the University Arboretum at Sacramento State.
The Arboretum, located on the J Street end of campus, will hold its spring open house sessions on Friday, April 28; Friday, May 19; and Saturday, May 27. Tours of the facility will be led by Mike Baad, director of the Arboretum. Tours at 10 a.m. and noon will focus on plantings from around the world, and tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. will examine native California plants. The tours are free.
The University Arboretum, which was started nearly 50 years ago by then-University President Guy West with the planting of 45 trees, now contains more than 400 species of trees, plants and flowers from California, South America, Australia, Europe and Asia.
