Choirs aim for the high notes at concert
The Sacramento State choirs and Symphony Orchestra will make their Mondavi
Center for the Performing Arts debut as part of the University's annual "Choralfest"
at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 1.
The celebration of choral singing features a wide variety of choral music,
performed by more than 300 singers and musicians, including the University
Chorus, Concert Choir and Chamber Choir, under the direction of Sacramento
State professor Donald Kendrick.
The concert will also feature the West Coast premiere of composer Rene
Clausen's Memorial, a cantata for chorus and orchestra dedicated to victims of Sept.
11, which will be conducted by Sacramento State professor Leo Eylar. The piece
was commissioned by the American Choral Director's Association.
Tickets are $20 general and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets are available
