Marching Band Benefits
From River Cats Success
A donation to the Hornets Marching Band
of California State University, Sacramento was made during
a ceremony this month at Raley Rield. The Sacramento River
Cats presented the check as part of the "Strike Out"
program, sponsored by Miller Brewing Company, which committed
$5 per strikeout delivered by the River Cats. The two companies
partnered for this program as part of their commitment to
education and university opportunities.
Last season there were 940 strikeouts, resulting in a $4,700
donation to benefit the Hornets Marching Band this year. The
program will continue to benefit CSUS in the 2001 season.
"We are proud to support this program to benefit CSUS
and we think the fans enjoy seeing the university win too,
when the River Cats win," said Tom Glick, a vice president
for the River Cats.
