CSUS gets all jazzed up
California State University, Sacramento
gets ready for the 29th annual Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, May
24 - 27 with three concerts featuring renowned performers
from around the world.
The University's Jazz Ensembles and Vocal Jazz finish the
semester with a bang as they join forces to present the "Spring
Jazz Thing" at 8 p.m., May 17 in the Music Recital Hall
in Capistrano Hall.
The award-winning groups are performing under the direction
of CSUS professors Steve Roach and Julie Adams who say the
program includes, "Exciting tight harmonies and characteristic
fun and flair." Tickets are $8 for general admission
and $5 for student and seniors.
The following week, two of jubilee's featured bands will give
free concerts at CSUS both in the University Union's Roundtable
Pizza.
One of the top international bands at the jubilee, The Fireworks
Jazz Band from Melbourne, Australia will give a free concert
on campus from 4 - 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 21.
Returning for its 21st year to the jubilee is the traditional
jazz group the Colorado University Claim Jumpers. They will
give a free concert on campus from 4 - 6 p.m., Wednesday,
May 22.
