Local Army Band to Make
CSUS Appearance

A local army band will take the stage at the California State University, Sacramento campus Thursday, June 28 at noon. The Sacramento-based "Governor's Own" 59th Army Band of the California Army National Guard will perform a free concert at the CSUS Music Recital Hall in Capistrano Hall. The band will play traditional and popular contemporary musical selections.

Since 1928, the "Governor's Own" has performed for every governor's inauguration and is a regular performer at the State Capitol. It is the only Army band to perform for England's Queen Elizabeth, on her visit to California in 1984. The band also prides itself on being the only National Guard band featured on a nationally produced cassette of Army bands.
