Reel in the fun with free film viewings
Three recently released films – Robots, Guess Who
and Sahara – will be shown free to the public at Sacramento State
as part of the Summer Film Series. All movies start at 7 p.m. in the University
Union Ballroom. Robots will be shown Thursday, June 30, and Guess Who
follows on Thursday, July 7. Sahara concludes the series on Wednesday, July
13.
Young Rodney Copperbottom (voiced by Ewan McGregor) in the digitally-animated
Robots is a robot who seeks to make a name for himself as an inventor
in Robot City. Rodney embarks on a series of adventures with oddball friend
Fender (Robin Williams), encountering sleazy characters who try to foil their
efforts to save Robot City.
All seems well in Guess Who for African-American family man Percy Jones
(Bernie Mac), who approves of his daughter’s relationship with her new,
successful boyfriend (Ashton Kutcher). But there’s one little fact Percy’s
daughter forgot to mention: he’s white. And he wants to get married.
Explorer Dirk Pitt (Matthew McConaughey) embarks on a treasure hunt for a lost
ship with secret cargo in Sahara. Clues bring the crew to West Africa,
but dangers abound as the crew links mysterious deaths to the presence of the
ship.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Popcorn and beverages are available for purchase. Personal
food and drink items may be brought to the movie showing. Alcohol is prohibited.
