Summer concert series starts with success
The annual "Pops in the Park"
summer concert series kicked off with a bang last Saturday
when nearly 1,000 people turned out at Bertha Henschel Park
for the Bill Rase Band. The free concert series is co-sponsored
by California State University, Sacramento.
Future concerts include the Tom Rigney
Band with Flambeau at Glen Hall Park located on Sanburg Drive
in East Sacramento on June 22; Funkengruven will be featured
at CSUS located at 6000 J Street on June 29; The New Originals
will perform at East Portal Park, located on the corner of
51st and M streets, July 13; and the series with conclude
with a performance by Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers at
McKinley Park located on Alhambra Blvd. on July 20.
All concerts start at 6 p.m. and proceeds
from food and drink purchases will go towards enhancement
projects in East Sacramento neighborhood parks.
A silent auction befitting the East Sacramento
Chamber of Commerce will be held at the July 20 concert.
