New president to begin at CSUS
For
the first time in 19 years, California State University, Sacramento will open
its fall term with a new president, Alexander Gonzalez. He officially arrives
on campus July 7, 2003.
There will be media and photo opportunities during his first day on campus.

Gonzalez will present his first speech to the campus community at 10 a.m., Thursday,
Aug. 28 in the University Union Ballroom. Classes begin Sept. 2.
Gonzalez was named the 11th president of CSUS last spring by the CSU Board of
Trustees. Most recently, he has been president of CSU San Marcos. Previously
he served 18 years as CSU Fresno, first as an assistant professor in the psychology
department, which he later chaired. From 1991 until 1997, when he left for San
Marcos, he was the chief academic officer, or provost, of the campus.
