State
government and politics
journalism awards deadline
Sacramento State is reminding all California journalists to submit their entries
for two annual awards which recognize excellence in reporting in state government
and politics. Established in 1994 this year’s awards will be given in
two divisions – daily coverage and enterprise reporting. Print, radio
and television journalists are encouraged to submit stories which were published
or broadcast in California between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005.
The twelfth Annual California Journalism Awards and the Katharine M. Macdonald
Award are sponsored by the Center for California Studies at Sacramento State.
The deadline to submit entries is July 21, 2006.
Panels of distinguished active and retired journalists and academics will do
the judging. The Awards will be presented at a luncheon on Friday, September
22, 2006, at the Sacramento Convention Center. A cash prize of $500 will accompany
each award. A fourth category, the Macdonald Award, will be given to a student
journalist and will be accompanied by a $300 prize.
