Sacramento State’s Center for California Studies and the Sacramento Press Club will sponsor the 13th annual California Journalism Awards and the Katharine M. MacDonald Award at noon, Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Sterling Hotel in Sacramento.
The awards were established in 1994 to recognize excellence in reporting on California state government and politics.
The California Journalism Awards will be presented for radio and television reporting and for print journalism in two categories – daily coverage and enterprise reporting. Award winners will receive $500.
The Katherine M. Macdonald Award will be given to a student journalist, and the winner will receive $300.
Entries must have been published or broadcast in California between Jan.1, 2006 and Dec. 31, 2006.
Entries for the California Journalism Award must be postmarked by Monday, Aug. 13. Katherine M. Macdonald Award entries must be postmarked by Monday, Sept. 10.
