Campus remembrance set for Sept. 11
The
second anniversary of the Sept. 11th terrorism attacks on the United States will
be commemorated on the campus by the pealing of bells and the playing of taps.
Trumpeters from the music department will be stationed around campus and will
play taps four times during the morning for each of the four planes that went
down that day.
The bells and trumpets will be played at times which represent the actual east
coast times when the events occurred. These will be at 8:46 a.m. and 9:03 a.m.,
when the twin towers were hit, 9:38 a.m. for the Pentagon and 10:06 a.m. for the
flight in Pennsylvania.
That evening student organizations are planning a candlelight vigil to be held
on the Library Quad at 7:30 p.m.
