Campus
to observe day of remembrance
President George W. Bush has proclaimed
Friday, Sept. 14, as a national day of prayer and remembrance
for the victims of the terrorist attack on the United States.
While classes will be held as usual, arrangements have been
made for faculty and staff who wish to observe the events
in the Capital and at the National Cathedral.
Televisions will be available around the campus to broadcast
the events at 9 a.m. California time. A large screen viewing
room will be set up in the University Union Ballroom. Campus
and classroom televisions, including a set in the Sierra Room
in Sacramento Hall, will carry the program. To find out which
channel, turn on the set and flip to the program listing for
details.
As requested by President Bush, the campus will also toll
the bells at noon California time so that individuals may
take a minute of silence for the victims.
