The free events,
which include breakfast, feature a range of guests speaking on hot topics in
the Sacramento region in a low-key, off-the-record format that allows audience
interaction.
Johnson retired from the NBA in 2000 after 12 seasons with the Phoenix Suns.
He is currently the president of St. Hope Corporation, a non-profit community
development corporation working to revitalize Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood.
The education arm of the operation opened two charter schools this summer –
the new Sacramento High School and Public School 7 elementary school. Its economic
development efforts include the renovation of the 40 Acres Art Gallery and Cultural
Center.
Other topics and speakers in this year’s Breakfast Club series include
CSUS President Alexander Gonzalez on Tuesday, Dec. 16; Sacramento County Sheriff
Lou Blanas on Tuesday, March 9; and News 10 anchor Cristina Mendonsa on Tuesday,
May 11.
Seating is limited. For reservations or additional information, contact the
Alumni Association at (916) 278-6295.
