The University Career Center will hold its annual fall career fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the University Union Ballroom. More than 120 employers are expected to attend. The fair is open to all students.
The Center will also hold two career fair preparatory workshops beforehand. The first is 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 24, and the second is 4 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25. Both workshops are in the Career Center, Lassen Hall, Room 2000. An employer and labor trends lecture to help students prepare for the fair, is noon to 1:30p.m., Sept. 25 in the Hinde Auditorium, University Union.
“The prep workshop is an opportunity for students to learn what to expect and how to present a professional image before meeting career fair representatives,” says Beth Merritt Miller, Academic Advising and Career Center director. She says students will learn how to approach employers, what questions to ask, what to bring, what to wear and how to follow-up after contacting an employer.
The Center will also hold an additional fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, and a Government Employment Career Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday Oct. 31. Both fairs are in the University Union Ballroom.
The career fairs are for students and alumni searching for internships, co-ops and entry-level career positions. The government job fair is for students interested in working for federal, state and local government agencies.
The Career Center will conduct interviewing practice Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 3 and 4 in Lassen Hall, Room 2000 and will assist with resume writing, noon to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the University Union Ballroom.
