Talented professors take the stage in faculty concerts

The talents of Sacramento State’s music professors are on display throughout the fall with a series of faculty recitals on campus.

The concerts continue with percussionist Daniel Kennedy who will perform at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Room 151 of Capistrano Hall at Sacramento State, 6000 J. Street, Sacramento.

Kennedy holds a master’s degree in music from California Institute of the Arts and a doctoral degree in percussion performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Soprano Robin Fisher will perform at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, accompanied by Gregory Mason on piano. Fisher’s program will include art songs set to poetry in German, Spanish and French by composers such as Schubert, Richard Strauss and Gounod. The performance takes place in the Recital Hall of Capistrano Hall on campus.

The final performance of the fall features the University’s string ensemble, the Sun Quartet. They will perform at 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Recital Hall. Sun Quartet members are Ian Swensen and Anna Presler on violin, Anna Kruger on viola, and Andrew Luchansky on cello. The concert will include the Arensky Quartet for Two Celli, with guest artist Andrew Smith, and the Schumann String Quartet in A major.
