California State
University, Sacramento took center stage in California’s gubernatorial
recall election Wednesday evening, Sept. 24, as it hosted the first debate to
include all leading candidates vying to replace Gov. Gray Davis should he be
recalled.
Following a welcome by CSUS President Alexander Gonzalez, candidates Cruz Bustamante,
Peter Camejo, Arianna Huffington, Tom McClintock and Arnold Schwarzenegger participated
in a lively discussion mediated by Stan Statham, head of the California Broadcasters
Association, co-sponsor of the event.
An international corps of more than 500 journalists covered the debate and candidate
press conferences that followed.
