World class comedy cackles at CSUS
For more than two decades, the San Francisco
Stand-up Comedy Competition has served as a major springboard
for talented young acts throughout the country. Once again,
Sacramento gets the chance to sit in on part of the laugh
in.
The 26th annual semi-finals of the competition will be held
at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4 in California State University,
Sacramento University Union Ballroom.
The semi-final round features 10 comedians, each of whom will
offer up their best 12 minutes of material. Nationally recognized
comedian Dan St. Paul will headline the event and serve as
the show's host.
Though a competition, the evening will provide a showcase
of the best up-and-coming comedic talent from across the nation.
Past winners include Dana Carvey, Sinbad, Marsha Warfield
and Carlos Alaraqui. And the caliber of five comedians who
make it to the final rounds promises to be outstanding as
evidenced by past finalists such as Ellen DeGeneres and Robin
Williams.
Tickets for the event are $7 - 10 and can be purchased at
the CSUS Ticket Office at (916) 278-4323. Additional media
assistance is available by contacting the CSUS public affairs
office at (916) 278-6156.
