Life
Center offers fall sessions for seniors
The
fall schedule at California State University, Sacramento's Life
Center offers numerous learning opportunities for seniors. All activities
will be held at the Life Center in the University's Julia Morgan
House at 3731 T Street.
The latest class offered is Introduction to Meditation. The class
is intended to help seniors build concentration, boost their immune
systems and alleviate the ill effects of stress.
There will be three five-week sessions from noon to 1:30 p.m. on
Tuesdays. The sessions are as follows: Oct. 15 to Nov. 12, Nov.
19 to Dec. 17, and Jan. 7 to Feb. 4. The class is $50 per session.
The Life Center also has a variety of upcoming free speaker forums.
Each forum will be held from noon to 1 p.m.
- "Meditation:
Strength Training for the Mind and Spirit," will be held
on Friday, Oct. 11. Meditation teacher Joan Zeglarski will discuss
the benefits of the practice.
- "Home
Safety" will be discussed on Friday, Nov. 8. CSUS physical
therapy professor Patricia Harris will talk on how to evaluate
your home for safety issues, and will provide simple solutions
to common problems.

"Undiet: Painless Baby Steps to Permanent Weight Loss (Without
a Day on a Diet)" will be held on Friday, Dec. 13. Sacramento
City College nutrition professor Bronwyn Schweigerdt will discuss
small, but effective changes in eating patterns that can add up
to weight loss over time.
