MusicFest orchestrates lessons for teachers, students
Music teachers and young musicians will have an opportunity to learn more about their craft at a free all-day event on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sacramento State’s Capistrano Hall.
MusicFest 2006—sponsored by Sacramento State’s Department of Music and the California Association for Music Education, Capitol Section—offers an array of topics for music educators and students. Sessions for teachers include choral, wind and string literature, jazz pedagogy, marching band, elementary general music and voice.
Student musicians and their parents can choose from sessions for individual instruments, chamber music, student leadership and exploring music-making opportunities for all students at the collegiate level. Students are encouraged to bring their instruments. In addition, new instruments and accessories will be on display in an exhibitors’ area.
Continuing education units are available through Sacramento State’s College of Continuing Education for a nominal fee. Registration will be available at the event.
