The Sun Quartet lights up CSUS
California State University, Sacramento's Sun Quartet - a music
ensemble celebrated for its craft throughout the region - will perform
at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 in Capistrano Hall 151. Tickets for the
event are $8 general admission and $5 for students and seniors.
The Sun Quartet members are all artists in residence at CSUS and
include cellist Andrew Luchansky, violist Anna Kruger and violinists
Ian Swensen and Anna Presler.
At the concert the group will perform Haydn's beloved "Emperor
Quartet," as well as the romantic masterpiece Brahms' Opus
51.
Swensen is one of very few musicians to have been awarded top prizes
in both the International Violin Competition and the International
Chamber Music Competition.
Presler has taught at several universities including the Center
for Chamber Music in New Hampshire and she has participated in music
festival around the world.
Kruger is a founding member of the renowned Lark Quartet has toured
extensively for the past 10 years throughout the United States,
Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada and Russia.
Luchansky earned his bachelor's in cello performance from the New
England Conservatory of Music, his master's from New York State
University and has studied chamber music with members of the Julliard
Quartet.
