Comedy competition comes to
campus
Sacramento State will once
again play host to the annual San Francisco Stand-Up Comedy Competition. The
University is the second of six stops presenting a final round of the 30th year
of the contest. The laughs will commence at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 in
the University Union Ballroom.
The event will showcase five finalists each doing a 15-to 20-minute set while
vying for the $30,000 grand prize. The contest consists of four rounds, with
25 shows in 26 days from Santa Cruz to Chico. Thousands try out to land a spot
on the traveling comedy challenge, but only the funniest 30 are chosen. Since
1976, the contest has served as a career catalyst for numerous comedians including
Ellen DeGeneres, Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Roseanne Barr and Rob Schneider.
General admission tickets are $10, $7 for Sacramento State students. For more
information or for tickets, contact the Sacramento State Ticket Office at (916)
