University to host S.F. Comedy
Competition finals

California State University, Sacramento is set to once again host the San Francisco Stand-Up Comedy Competition, and in a switch from previous years, the University will be one of the locations presenting the final round of the contest. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7 in the University Union Ballroom.

This final round of the 29th annual laughfest features five comedians performing for 20 minutes each as they vie for the $5,000 in total prize money awarded to the winner. Sacramento State and four other venues, including Caesars Tahoe, are hosting the last of the competition’s three rounds. San Francisco Comedy Day founder and a comedy club headliner Jose Simón will introduce the comedians as the show’s on-stage host.

Previous comedy competitors have included actor Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, of “Saturday Night Live” and film fame, and comedians Carlos Alazraqui, Ellen DeGeneres, Sinbad and Marsha Warfield.

General admission tickets are $10, $7 for students, and are available from the CSUS Ticket Office at (916) 278-4323 or Tickets.com. Media assistance is available from public affairs at (916) 278-6156.
