Hundreds
of CSUS volunteers to serve community
Organizers
expect up to 300 California State University, Sacramento students
as volunteers for the semi-annual Community Service Day. The student
government-sponsored event begins 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 12 at
the Foothill Suite in the University Union.
At least 12 Sacramento-area organizations, including Effie Yeaw
Nature Center inside Ancil Hoffman Park in Carmichael, Easter Seals
at 3205 Hurley Way, and SunBridge retirement center at 8336 Fair
Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael will benefit from the volunteers' hard
work. Volunteers will also clean up along Arcade Creek.
Each worker will receive breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt. The day
begins with a 7:30 a.m. sign-in and meal. The day ends with lunch
at 1 p.m.
Volunteers do not have to be CSUS students, faculty or staff. To
sign up, phone (916) 278-4241. Volunteer opportunities will also
be available for those who do not phone in advance.
