Rising stars shine at CSUS
Celebrating its 42nd anniversary of
inspired comic lunacy, the Second City National Touring Company
will stop by California State University, Sacramento for a
night of sketch and improvisation comedy. The event is at
7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25 in the University Union Ballroom.
Since opening in Chicago in 1959, Second City has continuously
toured the world with its trademark satire. The company's
alumni list reads like a "who's who" of American
comedy and includes such stars as Alan Arkin, John Belushi,
Bill Murray, Robert Klein, Gilda Radner, Joan Rivers, Mike
Myers, Dan Aykroyd, Chris Farley, Martin Short, George Wendt,
Shelly Long, John Candy and a host of others.
Along with resident theatres in Chicago, Toronto and Detroit,
Second City operates three national touring troupes. Featuring
a blend of classic comedic scenes, songs and improvisation
performed by a six-member ensemble, the company also combines
the best material from its established and rising stars to
create an evening of laughter.
The event is sponsored by the University's UNIQUE programs.
