Tales from the golf tour highlight fundraiser
#16 at Cypress Point by Jim Fitzpatrick
Golf stories galore—from artist and alumnus Jim Fitzpatrick
and former pro Ken Venturi—will be the topic for “An Evening with
Golf Artist Jim Fitzpatrick” at California State University, Sacramento.
The event tees off at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4 at the Alumni Center.
The artist will share his tales from the PGA Tour and will be joined by Venturi,
former CBS Sports golf analyst and winner of the 1964 U.S. Open. Golf Talk 1140
personality Bruce Kaiser will moderate and local television legend Stan Atkinson
will emcee.
After several years on tour, Granite Bay’s Fitzpatrick turned his passion
for golf into an art. A self-taught artist, his work has been collected by some
of the world’s best-known golfers, including Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez,
Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Peter Jacobsen. It can also be found at the PGA
Golf Hall of Fame, USGA Golf House, PGA Tour Headquarters, Royal Canadian Golf
Association, ABC Sports, Disney World and Kapalua International.
Fitzpatrick has authorized the sale of a limited-edition giclee printing of
his painting “#16 at Cypress Point” for the occasion at $600 a piece.
The evening also will include a golf-themed silent auction, a live auction and
a dessert reception. The cost is $35 per person.
Proceeds benefit the Sacramento State golf team, the CSUS Alumni Association
and Scholarship Fund, and First Tee of Greater Sacramento (formerly SAYGolf).
