Napa and Modoc Halls to reopen around 1 p.m.
As a precaution Sacramento State officials evacuated Napa Hall and Modoc Hall
on the south end of campus today after building residents noticed a strong odor.
The buildings are scheduled to open at 1 p.m.
University facilities officials and Sacramento Metro and Sacramento City fire
departments responded to complaints of a strong smell about 9:45 a.m. They conducted
a thorough investigation.
While the source of the odor is unknown, it has been determined it came from
outside the buildings. The air in the buildings has been turned over multiple
times.
Paramedics examined 10 individuals for nausea and headache symptoms. None required
a hospital visit.
Campus employees needing more information can call Risk Management Services
at 278-3656 or University Enterprises at 278-7001.
