Authors unblocked and unleashed at
the 15th annual Writers Conference
Ever wonder what it takes to get the
pen to the paper and the paper to publisher? Everything emerging
authors need to know and more will be explored at the 15th
annual Focus on Writers Conference from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.,
Saturday, Oct. 27 at California State University, Sacramento.
Learn about the creative and commercial aspects of writing,
analyze character development, explore literature genres,
discover how to write screenplays or educate yourself in the
art of self-publishing with workshops hosted by renowned authors
and publishers.
Keynote speakers, scheduled from 9 - 10 a.m., include Jack
Gallagher and Dean Chance. Gallagher is a comedian who wrote
and performs a one-man show Letters to Declan in theaters
and across the country. Chance is a freelance writer and photographer
who has written copy for every medium available as well as
co-authoring the Crystal Milk television and radio commercials
with Gallagher for more than 10 years.
Workshops throughout the afternoon will be hosted by CSUS
professors and authors Joshua McKinney and Christopher Castaneda;
author of Chicken Soup for the Writer's Soul Bud Gardner;
best-selling mystery writer Dick Herman; author Kenna McHugh;
children's book writer Louise Monroe Foley; author of River
of Red Gold Nadia West and many others.
Tickets for the event are $45 and include lunch. Tickets can
