CSUS small business center offers free help
The Center for Small Business at California State University,
Sacramento is offering free management assistance to small
businesses in the Sacramento area during the fall and spring
semesters. Applications are available by calling the center
at (916) 278-7278.
The center helped nearly 140 firms last year with CSUS students
providing more than 9,200 hours of assistance. Working under
faculty supervision, the students gave advice and guidance
across a full-range of management issues with the exception
of taxation, law and loan packaging. Dennis Tootelian, center
director, said most of the recent requests were for assistance
with marketing and business plans.
"People are becoming much more sophisticated in how they
manage their businesses," he said. "Small business
owners, in particular, are increasingly recognizing that they
have to plan for success."
The center services are made possible through the support
of Sacramento Municipal Utility District and a number of local
banks, including REsource Capital, Wells Fargo Bank, Union
Bank, U.S. Bank, Bank of the West, River City Bank and Guaranty
Federal Bank.
For more information about the center and its programs, contact
Tootelian at (916) 278-6203 or (916) 971-4096. Additional
media assistance is available by contacting CSUS public affairs
