Rock-in' deals at Geology Club auction
"Rock" someone's world for Christmas this year with
a gift from the California State University, Sacramento Geology Club Rock Auction,
scheduled for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19, at the Alumni Center.
Rockhounds of all kinds are invited to attend the free event, which will feature
numerous items for auction including polished rock slabs, rock and mineral samples
from around the world, local wines, jewelry, field trips and Geology Club t-shirts.
Door prizes will also be provided.
Students and faculty have sifted through their personal collections to donate
a variety of mineral samples including bladed stibnite, obsidian, pumice, orpiment
and realgar, zeolites, petrified wood and fossils. Proceeds from the auction
will help fund club events, subsidize the cost of supplies and contribute toward
a field trip scheduled for next spring.
Auction items and support have been given by Blackburn Consulting, Champagne
Jewelry for Lovers, GeoCon Inc., Oakstone Winery, Queenstake Mining Company,
Rock Your World, Rockhound Saloon, Sacramento Mineral Society, and U.S. Pumice
Company.
